How we started Adirondack Canopy Co.

Creating a canopy for kayaks and canoes, to provide protection from the elements, was the brainchild of avid outdoor enthusiast, Dave LaCross.

In the early 2000's, after spending countless days on the water, which were cut short by the blazing sun and passing rain showers, Dave developed his first canopies. He designed them with adjustable mounting options, making it easy to install on kayaks and canoes within minutes. By 2003, canopies handmade by Dave, could be found on the many waterways in New York’s Adirondack Park. Since then, our products have been sold throughout the US and aboard. We still make them in the USA. They are crafted with the same care and thought that Dave started with. The goal remains the same; to create a canopy that offers protection from the sun and rain when out on the water.  

Our patent pending canopies include UV treated material to allow for greater protection from the sun. We offer them in a six colors... with more to come.
